H&M Huckleberry Funky Print E-mail
Fresh and hip, H&M kids fashion always sets the trend among pre-teens. There’s so much pressure on kids of all ages today that this season’s carefree and fun collection for babies up to 13 - just made for escapist summer days when the picnic never ends – thrills us.
Flowing florals and skinny stripes.

Swing into spring with retro prints and happy colours. Spring/summer 2008 is fun and frolicky for children at H&M – as it should be. Girls will love the swirl of fresh meadow flowers and cute drop-waist jersey dresses in raspberry red, white and grey. And there’s a soft-check shirt dress in grass green and sunshine yellow that’s just made for a sunny Easter photo.

Boys will happily pull on the outdoor neutrals, which form the basis of this season’s happy colour palette.

Kids will be oblivious to the Seventies inspiration behind their new wardrobe, but mums will love the bold and practical vintage surf prints, funky florals, skinny stripes,  far-out lettering and the ‘print story’ seen on t-shirts, blouses, sweatshirts and dresses. Clouds drift across the softest of hoodies; polka dots and pretty ginghams are great for girls; faded checks and paisley’s make perfect summer party shirts for boys.

As usual, H&M provide a great range of denim, from on-trend and comfortable jeans (tight fit and hung with chains for boys; high-waisted and flared for girls) to softly structured shirt-dresses, button through A-line skirts, waistcoats and high-waisted shorts with cute patch pockets. You can offset all those denim blues with a plain or striped tank top and sweet pastel shades of  powder pink, turquoise and buttercup.

 “This season’s children’s collection is all about colours and comfort. Great denim pieces with patterned or printed shirts and T-shirts are just what kids like to wear when it’s all about being outdoors,” says H&M’s head of design Margareta van den Bosch.

Ian McPhee, store manager, says;

For girls, the appeal is in skinny jeans again, and for the pre-teens this translates into a style the youngsters will also feel comfortable with. It’s the same with the boys, really, in that the key pieces echo the menswear - cardigans and shirts worn with jeans in a sort of  casual but smart preppy style.
